Topics
Keynote Lecture: Focus on recent/on-going efforts of the Center for Land Use Interpretation (CLUI) and the current research of its Director Matthew Coolidge. Research engages with historic and vernacular sites and aims to provide understanding of the trends and impacts of landscape development.
Panel 01 - Economic Landscapes: Focus on landscape as an agent of political policy and cultural meaning. The panelists will present current/on-going research and professional projects that focus on issues of activism, cultural preservation, and political conflict as demonstrated by specific project proposals and case studies.
Panel 02 - Political Landscapes: Focus on current and developing computer technologies as well as impacts/uses of green technologies within infrastructural landscape. Panelists will present/discuss current research and professional work ranging from design/planning of new models for sustainable suburban development, regulatory development of green energy resources, and advances in software for dynamic landscape modeling as a planning/design tool.
Panel 03 - Tecnological Landscapes: Focus on landscape as an agent of economic change and demonstrate the increased significance of landscape architecture strategies following recent economic collapse. Panelists will present/discuss current research and professional work ranging from design of new green industrial sites and regulatory mechanisms for green infrastructure to urban design strategies based on landscape as an economic stimulus. |
